Summerscale presents a biography of 'Joe' Carstairs, the woman champion motorboat racer of the 1920s who, in the 30s, bought and became 'ruler' of the island Whale Cay, in the British West Indies, before moving to Florida where she settled for 40 years, running a steamship freightline and setting up a chain of airports.
