Anesthetist Kate Lamb is aware that she is overworked, and agrees too easily when asked to do more, but she loves her work. Out of real concern for Kate, colleague Mark Summers persuades her to go away for the weekend with him. It's meant to be platonic, but both are shocked to realize they want more. Except that Mark would like marriage and a family, and Kate thinks she only want an affair....
