The Author was an Equestrian judge. He won many, many ribbons and trophies for his shetland and hackney show ponies. He was inducted in the shetland hall of fame in Peoria Illinois. His wife Cleora was a writer for years for The Shetland Pony Journal. He and his son Bennett had a successful breeding business in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His dairy farm closed when the bigger dairies came to town. When he closed it he started the pony breeding business, he and his wife Cleora worked hard on this book for they new the ins and outs of the pony business. The times and challenges.
