Abstract: A personal guidebook for women with compulsive eating problems advances the thesis that overweight is not simply the result of overindulgence, lack of will power, or even bad eating habits. The book is aimed at helping women discover more about their bodily needs, especially those centering on food and eating, and developing new eating habits that are consistent with their needs. A discussion of a personal experience with bulimia is included. The power of fat, the realities and unrealities of being thin, mirror exercises and the expansion of self image are discussed. Eating awareness guidelines, the power of proper nutrition, and a strategy for combining the concepts discussed, for losing weight are also covered. A commentary to psychotherapists is appended.
