It's New Year's Eve, and Senator Bruce Kirkhill fails to appear at the home of his financee's father, Vice-Admiral Jonathan Satterbee. Instead, he is found later that same evening in a run-down neighborhood, wearing shabby clothes, and murdered! Naively, the Admiral hires a private investigator to check things out.
