Bob the dog sets out on a dangerous journey in search of his long-lost sister with the help of his two best friends, Ivan the gorilla and Ruby the elephant. Bob met Ivan and Ruby in the book, ‘The One and Only Ivan’ which is the first book, and this is the second. They met in a circus. The first one was about Ivan the gorilla and the second is about Bob the dog. As a hurricane approaches and time is running out, Bob finds courage he never knew he had and learns the true meaning of friendship and family.
