Sigmar Polke's group of works entitled "We petty bourgeois! : comrades and contemporaries" of 1974-76 was forgotten for a long time. A collection of large-format gouaches on paper, it depicts a wealth of permeating and overlapping figures, traces, signs, and quotations drawn from contemporaneous popular culture. This volume presents this work, and his entire production from the 1970s, including drawing, painting, and photography.
