The novel follows the principle of "people telling each other stories". Here seven young men being stuck in a shelter in the mountains. Because of their experiences there they decide to tell each other „Geschichten vom Tode und dem Grauen, das sein Gefolge ist“ (cit. p. 36) (stories of death and the horror that is its entourage). It is dedicated „Meinem Manne“ (to my husband).

At the end you can find 12 unnumbered pages with „Anzeigen des Cotta'schen Verlages“ (ads of the publisher) and reviews of other books of T. v. Harbou.

The book is in Gothic print and comes with marking ribbon (Lesebändchen).
