"The Alternative Sherlock Holmes" is an exhaustive, but incomplete, list of parodies and pastiches inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's creation. It lists the stories inspired by the titles found in the canon, period pastiches, non-period pastiches, stories in which Holmes' friends, relations and enemies star, parodies and imposters and knock-offs and rivals. The authors describe the titles in chronological order, sometimes with a summary of the story. An extensive bibliography lists original and subsequent publication dates.
