Upon his death, in August 2018, Antonio Dias had assembled a collection of his own works that covered his entire artistic trajectory. The set was composed of parts from which he had never separated, as well as other repurchased from third parties for whom they had been sold. It was, therefore, a representation of himself intentionally constructed, maintained and guarded. The attitude of collecting one another manifests an essential aspect of the artist: Antonio Dias cultivated a work ethic that allows us to understand his journey from positions clearly formulated by him. Thus, the choice of the components of this collection testifies to principles that have accompanied the artist throughout his life and that were kept close to him. We have gathered here part of this unique collection. In addition to having emblematic pieces such as Nota sobre a morte acidental (Note on accidental death) and Anywhere Is My Landʺ, the collection ranges from the first abstract works of the early 1960œs to the last canvas painted by Antonio Dias. The name of the exhibition was created from an engraving made by the artist at the age of 20 at the Clube da Gravura of MAM, in 2006, and is the product from the images of his eponymous film.
