This speech by Nazi Propaganda Minister Josef Goebbels on the Berlin Opernplatz on the night of May 10 to 11, 1933, accompanied the Berlin students' public burning of thousands of books defined as degenerate, unpatriotic, treasonable, or otherwise inimical to Germany's emerging "race community."
