
Bloody Promenade
AT THE LAST light before home, waiting for a left-turn arrow, I have a minute or two to lift my eyes to the hills above the shopping center on my right, above signs for the bank and burger place, car wash and insurance agency, and to find, if the leaves have fallen, the white dome of Monticello, which from this angle looks nothing like the back of a nickel.
