The Greek Way of Death
By way of prologue, it will be useful to provide an outline of the physical and mental condition of those who lived 'over there' (ekei), as Hades was obliquely termed: that is to say, the character, temperament and resourcefulness of the Greek dead together with some idea of their status and standing vis-à-vis the world of the living and the world of the gods.
