Both systematically and historically, Fichte's Wissenshaftslehre represents a further development of Kant's critical philosophy, prepared and inspired by the latter's earlier reception through Karl Leonhard Reinhold, Gottlob Ernst Schulze, Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi and Salomon Maimon.
