
The Millennium Problems
On 24 May, 2000, in a lecture hall at the College de France, in Paris, world-renowned mathematicians Sir Michael Atiyah, of Great Britain, and John Tate, of the USA, announced that a prize of $1 million would be awarded to the person or persons who first solved any one of seven of the most difficult open problems of mathematics.
