Walter Lee Williams (born November 3 1948) is an American former professor of anthropology, history, and gender studies at the University of Southern California. He is one of the pioneers in the field of queer studies, with a long background in human rights activism. He has done extensive field research on many Indian reservations, and has taught courses on Native American history for over thirty years. Williams is an acclaimed authority on the multicultural study of gender variance.
