Graeme Andrews was born in 1938 and served in the RAN from 1955 until 1969. He worked as journalist full and part time from 1966 until date ( 2010) and served in the RANR until 1980. At various times he has been author of monthly ( Australian Seacraft) and quarterly ( Australian Sea Heritage) magazines and has been a contributor to Afloat magazine since 1994 - about 200 articles. He has maintained a steady output of articles on Australiana and matters maritime since 1966. He is a retired professional seaman - Petty Officer in the RAN and Master of Manly and Sydney ferries and coastal tugs for the Sydney port authority. He is married with two daughters, married wife Winsome in 1963, with five grandchildren and lives at Koolewong, near Gosford. He was awarded the OAM in 2000 and is an honorary life member of the Australian Naval Historical Society and the Sydney Heritage Fleet ( aka Sydney Maritime Museum.) Andrews has published about 20 books and second editions and operates an extensive, mainly digitized, maritime photograpic collection. Graeme K Andrews
