**John Pimlott** (born on 1948, Brigg — 24 October 1997, Surrey) was the Head of the War Studies Department at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and a writer of books on military history. He was tragically killed on 24 October 1997 when two hand grenades picked up on a battlefield visit exploded in his study. He published both papers and popular books on twentieth-century military history and especially guerrilla warfare.
